Creating a Plant Care Routine That Works for You (and Your Plants)

A consistent routine is key to healthy plants. Here’s how to organize weekly or monthly care based on the types of plants you own, your local climate, and your daily schedule.

Sample weekly routine:

Monday: General inspection of leaves and soil condition. Look for signs of stress or pests.

Wednesday: Water if needed, depending on soil moisture and plant type.

Friday: Clean leaves with a damp cloth. Rotate pots to ensure even light exposure.

Once a month: Fertilize, prune lightly, deep clean, and check drainage.

Using a gardening notebook or app can help track each plant’s needs. Over time, you’ll learn their rhythms and anticipate what they need. Plant care is also a form of self-care: it connects you to nature, reduces stress, and brings joy to your everyday life.
